Thai Yoga Massage (Nuad Boran), is an ancient healing system combining assisted yoga postures, acupressure, and Indian Ayurvedic principles. Originating in India over 2,500 years ago before taking root and flourishing in Thailand, it is a highly interactive, dynamic experience that is quite different from traditional Western styles.
Practitioners physically move the body and stimulate sen lines to clear energetic blockages, improve circulation, increase flexibility, and promote a deep state of mental relaxation and stress relief. A sort of "lazy person's yoga", the practice rewards us with a holistic sense of energetic balance.
Designed for couples, close friends, and/or experienced students & practitioners, this workshop offers assisted hands-on learning and will be guided with live demonstration. Participants will deepen their understanding of bodywork and learn safe, practical skills they can use when working with a partner. Here are the key characteristics of a typical session:
Fully Clothed: recipient is fully dressed in loose, comfortable clothing to allow for a full range of motion.
Floor Mat: sessions take place on a padded mat on the floor, allowing the practitioner to use their body weight effectively.
Assisted Stretching: practitioner guides recipient through a flowing sequence of yoga-like stretches and postures.
Acupressure & Energy Lines: practitioner uses their hands, thumbs, elbows, knees, and feet to apply rhythmic pressure
No Oils or Lotions: traction is needed to manipulate the body into stretches, so lotions and oils are not used.
